Open the customer's detail page by clicking their name in the customer list.

In the Vehicles section, click "+ Add Vehicle". Fill in

  • Year: pick from the dropdown (1960 to next year). Year cannot be typed manually.
  • Make: pick from the dropdown of common makes, or click the "..." button to type a custom make if your vehicle is not listed.
  • Model: same dropdown plus "..." manual entry as Make.
  • Trim (optional)
  • Color
  • VIN (17 characters)
  • License Plate
  • Notes

The VIN decoder can auto-fill year, make, model, and trim if you enter the VIN first. On the mobile app, the built-in VIN scanner can read the VIN barcode off the dashboard or door jamb to fill the field automatically.

Vehicles are linked to invoices and work orders, so adding them here saves time later.

**Filling in a vehicle from a phone scan**

If somebody photographed the car's VIN plate with the VIN Scan tile on their phone, you do not have to type any of this. Click "Use a recent VIN scan" underneath the VIN box and pick the car; the VIN, year, make, model and trim fill in for you. See "VIN Scan: look up any vehicle from your phone".
