Yes. Someone who works the sales floor and the bays can do both jobs from one login.
The Role you pick on an employee's record sets where their permissions start. It is not a limit. What a person can actually do is controlled individually on their permission sheet, so one employee can hold the sales abilities and the install abilities at the same time.
To set someone up for both
- Go to Employees > Employee List and find the employee.
- Pick whichever role is closer to their main job. If they mostly sell, use Salesperson. If they mostly install, use Installer. The role only decides where their permissions start.
- Click Permissions on their row. This is owner-only, so ask an owner if you do not see the button.
- Switch on what the other job needs. For an installer who should also write invoices, turn on Create & edit invoices under Invoicing and Create & edit customers under Customers. For a salesperson who should also work jobs, turn on Use mobile bay (scan & work WOs) under Work Orders, and add Close / mark complete if they finish jobs themselves.
- Click Save. The change takes effect within about a minute; they do not need to sign out and back in.
Once saved, that employee shows a Custom tag next to their role on the Employee List. That is how you tell at a glance who is set up for two jobs rather than one.
Two things worth knowing
- Changing someone's role later does not change their permissions unless you tick the reset box. That is deliberate, so a role change cannot silently wipe a setup like this one, but it does mean the role label can stop describing what the person can really do.
- The "Apply to All [Role]s" button on Managers > Permissions > Role Templates resets everyone with a given role back to defaults, which would undo this setup. It names who would be affected before it runs, so read the list before confirming.
You do not need to do anything special for assignment. The technician list on a work order and the salesperson list on an invoice both include every active employee, whatever their role.
