Custom Fields are how you tailor 1sixty8 Manifold to capture the data your shop actually cares about: things that are specific to your work, not part of the platform's universal model.

Go to Settings > Custom Fields. The page is divided into six sections, paired into two-column rows. Disabled module sections are hidden automatically (so if you don't have Service turned on, the Work Order Check-In/Check-Out sections won't appear).

Sections and what they each do

  • Work Order Check-In: up to 4 custom checklist items shown when a technician checks a vehicle in. Each item appears with Pass / Fail / N/A buttons alongside the standard checklist. Example labels: Backup Camera Test, Bluetooth Pairing.
  • Work Order Check-Out: up to 4 custom checklist items shown at check-out, same Pass / Fail / N/A format. Example labels: Mileage Out, Parts Left Over.
  • Invoice: up to 4 custom text fields shown in the Invoice Details section. Example labels: PO Number, Job Reference.
  • Product: up to 4 custom text fields shown in the Product Details section. Example labels: Impedance, RMS Power.
  • Accounting Category: up to 10 categories. Enabled categories appear as a dropdown option on products and roll up in accounting reports.
  • Referral Sources: lists every source you can pick on an invoice or estimate (Word of mouth, Facebook ad, Returning customer, etc.). Each source row has an enable toggle, an editable name, and a Remove button. Click + Add Source to insert a new row, type the name, and Save.

Each row in the first five sections has the same two-control format: an enable checkbox on the left and a label text field. There is no field-type picker (the type is fixed by context: checklist items use Pass/Fail/N/A, invoice and product fields are free text).

This page defines your fields. Whether any of them are mandatory is set separately, under Settings > Invoicing > Required Fields, which is also where you require a referral source. Keeping the whole policy in one place means you can see everything your shop demands on a single screen. See the article on requiring fields before an invoice can be saved.

Click Save inside the section you edited. Saves are per-section, so changes to Invoice don't require you to also save Product. Disabled rows keep their label and any historical data; they just stop appearing on new forms. Renaming a field does not clear whether it is required.
