Permissions control what each user can see and do in the POS. They're managed per user, with role templates as defaults.
Go to Managers > Permissions. This page is owner-only. You can also open one person's sheet directly from Employees > Employee List, using the Permissions button on their row.
The roster shows every user with their role and status. A Custom tag beside someone's role means their permissions have been changed from that role's defaults. Use the Role and Status filters above the list to narrow it down; it shows Active users by default, so choose All Statuses to include inactive or locked accounts. Click Edit on any non-owner user to open their permission sheet.
On the edit page, permissions are grouped by area (Customers, Inventory, Invoicing, Reports, etc). Each group is either:
- A simple on/off toggle for the whole area (Scheduling / Appointments, Reviews / Reputation, and Warranties & Returns have no sub-permissions)
- Granular sub-permissions (e.g. Inventory: can view, can adjust, can delete)
Click Save when done.
Reset to Template: this returns the user to the defaults for their role - useful if you've been tinkering and want to start over.
Owners always have full access and can't be edited from this page; their role is locked.
You cannot edit your own permissions, even as an owner. Ask another owner to make the change. That keeps one person from quietly widening their own access.
For a read-only view of what each role gets by default, and to re-apply those defaults across all users with a given role, see the article on Role Templates.
