1sixty8 Manifold surfaces alerts across four places. Each one serves a different purpose; learn the differences so you do not miss something important.

Bell icon (top bar)

The bell sits in the top bar to the right of the Ask Manifold button. A red badge shows your unread count. Click it to open a dropdown grouped into three sections: Team notices (announcements), Tasks due (if Team Hub is enabled), and New customer messages (if Communications is enabled). Click any item to mark it read and jump to the source. Click "Mark all read" at the top to clear the list. Items that require acknowledgment stay until you acknowledge them explicitly.

Persistent banner

A site-wide ribbon across the top of every page (or only the Dashboard, depending on how it was configured at Managers > Announcements). Used for ongoing notices, finance-charge run results, and system alerts. Color-coded: yellow (default warning), green (success), red (alert), blue (info). Stays visible until a manager removes the banner.

Acknowledgment overlay

A full-screen "What's New" modal that pops on page load when there are announcements requiring acknowledgment. Each pending announcement shows its title, date, body, and a colored left border (blue=feature, green=fix, orange=maintenance, red=alert, purple=other). Click "Got it" to confirm and clear the overlay. Your ack timestamp is recorded for the manager who sent it (see the article on tracking announcement acknowledgments).

Push notifications

Phone or desktop OS-level notifications, configured per category at Account > Notifications. Push requires the PWA to be installed on the device. Quiet hours suppress non-urgent push; Approval requests and Critical system alerts bypass quiet hours.

Rule of thumb

  • Need to react right now: push notification.
  • Need to see it next time you're at the POS: bell icon.
  • Need everyone to see it all day: persistent banner.
  • Need confirmed receipt from everyone: ack overlay.

Email and SMS fallback to staff are on the roadmap; today these four are the live notification surfaces.
