Role Templates are the default permission sets baked into 1sixty8 Manifold for each user role. When you assign a role to a new user, they inherit that role's template. The templates themselves are part of the platform and are not editable from the admin UI; they are designed so each role has a sensible starting point.

Go to Managers > Permissions > Role Templates (the "Role Templates" link in the top right of the Permissions roster). These pages are owner-only.

The page lists every role as a collapsible section. Click a role header to expand it and see exactly which permissions are on (green Enabled / ✓) and off (red Disabled / ✗) for that role. The permission groups are the same ones you see when editing an individual user: Customers, Invoicing, Inventory, Reports, and so on.

The assignable roles are Owner, Store Manager, Office Manager, Sales Manager, Installation Manager, Salesperson, Installer, and Custom. Only an owner can assign the Owner role, so everyone else sees the list without it. Picking Custom starts that employee with nothing switched on, so you can build their access up from scratch.

Separately, a Custom tag appears beside an active employee's role, on both the Permissions roster and the Employee List, whenever their permissions no longer match their role's defaults because someone edited them by hand. Their role itself does not change. The tag is a marker so you can see at a glance who has been set up differently, for example a salesperson who also works in the bays.

What you can do from this page

  • Inspect what each role gets out of the box. Useful when you are deciding which role to assign a new employee.
  • Click the blue "Apply to All [Role]s" button next to a role to reset every user who has that role back to the template defaults. If anyone with that role carries custom permissions, they are named on the page and again in the confirmation dialog, because this erases those custom grants. An employee set up to do two jobs would lose the second one, so read the names before you confirm.

What you cannot do from this page (today)

  • Edit the templates themselves. The default permission set for each role is part of 1sixty8 Manifold's code and is not configurable from the admin UI. If you want a specific user to have a non-default set of permissions, edit that user directly on the Permissions page (the Edit button next to their name). That marks them as Custom.

If you want a default permission for a role changed platform-wide, ask 1sixty8 Manifold support. That change has to be made in the platform itself.
