Ask Manifold is the AI assistant built into the top bar of every page. It can answer questions about your customers, invoices, inventory, and how to use 1sixty8 Manifold.

Look for the circle-help icon (a question mark inside a circle) in the top bar, to the left of your avatar. Hover over it and the tooltip reads "Ask Manifold". Click it to open the chat panel.

The panel slides down from the top right of the screen. The header reads "Ask Manifold" and has five buttons:

  • Help (question mark): a quick "What can you help me with?" hint about what the assistant can do.
  • Chat Logs (document icon): opens Settings > AI Chat Logs, the per-tenant history of every conversation your staff has had with the assistant.
  • Clear (trash icon): clears the current conversation from the panel. Older messages stay in AI Chat Logs for managers to review.
  • Expand (arrows): expands the panel to a larger size for longer answers and more context.
  • Close (X): closes the panel without clearing the conversation.

To ask a question

  1. Type into the box at the bottom of the panel. The placeholder reads "Ask about customers, invoices, inventory...".
  2. Messages can be up to 2000 characters. A live counter below the message area shows where you are.
  3. Press Enter, or click the send icon (paper plane).

To dictate instead of type, click the microphone icon to the left of the text box and start talking. Click it again to stop.

The panel is resizable. Drag the left edge to make it wider, the bottom edge to make it taller, or the bottom-left corner to do both at once.

Note: in legal documents (Terms of Service, Privacy Policy) the assistant is referred to formally as the "AI Assistant". "Ask Manifold" is the product name shown in the UI. Both names refer to the same feature.
