A sale here is a promotion: a percentage off part of the catalogue for a period.
A line is priced when it is added, so an invoice or estimate written before a promotion started keeps the prices it was written with. Manifold never re-prices an open document in the background.
If you want a sale to reach work already under way, tick "Offer this sale on invoices and estimates already in progress" when you set the sale up.
The next person to open an affected invoice or estimate then sees a banner above the line items: how many lines are now on sale, which sales they are, and what applying would take off. Nothing changes until they click Apply the sale.
Clicking it reprices those lines, recalculates the totals, and notes what happened on the customer's timeline.
What it will not do
- Put a price up. A line is only ever offered a lower one.
- Touch a posted invoice, or an estimate already marked won or lost.
- Reverse itself later. Once a line has taken a sale price it keeps it, including after the sale ends. A deposit job finished weeks later still bills what the customer was quoted.
This is the switch to use when a customer comes back holding an estimate during a sale.
