When your shop is connected to Authorize.net (Settings > Payments), every invoice with a balance due shows the green "Collect Payment" panel, and Credit Card is one of the payment methods.
To charge a card
- Open the invoice (or estimate - Manifold creates the invoice for you when the payment goes through).
- In the Collect Payment panel, set Payment Method to "Credit Card".
- Enter the amount (or leave it blank to charge the full remaining balance) and click "Add".
- A "Charge Card" dialog opens showing what will be charged. If your shop has a credit-card surcharge configured, the dialog shows the base payment, the surcharge, and the grossed-up "Charge to card" total. Click "Enter Card & Charge $X.XX".
- Authorize.net's secure card-entry window (the AcceptUI lightbox) opens on top of the page. Enter the customer's card number, expiration, and CVV there and click Charge.
- The window closes, the page reloads, and a green success banner shows the brand, last 4, and the Authorize.net transaction id.
The card form is served by Authorize.net inside its own window, not by Manifold. Manifold never displays a card field and never receives the actual card number or CVV - only a one-time encrypted token that we hand to Authorize.net to complete the charge.
A card charge that covers the full remaining balance posts the invoice automatically; the "Post invoice now" checkbox applies only to payments queued with the Add button, not to integrated card charges.
If Authorize.net declines the card, the decline reason is shown so you can try again with a different card.
The resulting payment row shows up in Payment History as "Credit Card (Brand ●●●●1234) via Authorize.net" with the AN transaction id in the Reference column, and (when a surcharge applied) the surcharge in its own column. Card payments charged this way can be voided (same business day, before settlement) or refunded (after settlement) right from the Payment History row using the "Void on AN" / "Refund on AN" buttons.
In sandbox mode (for testing), Authorize.net provides these test cards: Visa 4111111111111111, Mastercard 5424000000000015, Amex 370000000000002. Any future expiration and any 3-digit CVV (4 for Amex) will work.
