Inventory Lookup puts a product's price and stock in your hand on the sales floor. Open 1sixty8 Manifold on your phone and tap the Inventory Lookup tile on the Launcher. It is there for anyone who can view inventory, at shops with the Point of Sale module.
**Finding a product**
- Tap Scan a barcode and point the camera at the UPC on the box. Fill the box on screen with the barcode and hold steady; tap the screen to refocus, or use the flashlight button in a dark stockroom. If the camera will not read a small or shiny label, tap Snap a photo instead.
- Or type in the search box. Every word you type has to match somewhere in the brand, model, name, description or barcode, in any order, so "jl 10w3" and "10w3 jl" find the same thing. Dashes and spaces inside part numbers do not matter: "10w3v34", "10W3v3-4" and "10w3 v3 4" all match. An exact model number comes first. Inactive products only appear when nothing active matches, and are marked Inactive.
**What the card shows**
At the top: the brand and model (the model is the product's SKU, its part number), the description, and a stock badge (In stock, Low stock or Out of stock). Then the price: retail, or if a sale is running on the product, the sale price with the retail price struck through and the sale's name and last day, for example "Fall Audio Event, through Oct 12". Below that, Available (what you can sell right now) and On Order, with the date the next purchase order is expected when there is one. If the product pays a spiff, the amount per unit shows too.
Tap More details for the rest: SKU, barcode, category, vendor, dealer price (with the Wholesale module), MAP, minimum sell price, Total Stock, Committed, Defective, min and max stock, serial numbers in stock for serialized products, the last time it was received and the last time it sold, and a link to the full product page. The stock numbers are the same ones the product page shows; see Committed Stock and What You Can Actually Sell.
**Cost**
In More details there is an empty Cost field. Tap it to show cost, margin and profit at today's price; tap it again to hide them, or leave them and they hide after 20 seconds. Only people with the "View & edit costs" permission see the Cost field at all, which by default is owners only. See How to See Cost, Margin and Profit on a Product.
**A barcode that finds nothing**
Many products have no UPC on file yet, especially ones brought over from another system, so a scan can come back empty. The screen says no product has that barcode and lets you search for the product instead. Owners and store managers (anyone with the "Attach barcodes to products" permission) can then open the right product and tap Attach barcode, so the next scan finds it straight away. Your shop builds up its barcodes just by using the scanner. A barcode another product already has is refused, naming that product, and replacing a product's existing barcode asks first.
**Adding it to an invoice or estimate**
Anyone who can create and edit invoices sees Add to invoice or estimate on the card. Pick a quantity, then pick the document: open invoices and active estimates from the last 90 days are listed, yours first, and the search box finds any customer, phone number or document number. Tap a document, then tap its Add button to confirm.
The line goes on at the price the counter would charge today, retail or the sale price, exactly as if it were added at the desk. You cannot change the price from the phone; adjust it at the counter if you need to. Serial numbers are picked at the counter too, before the invoice posts. Documents brought over from another system, work orders and dealer invoices are not offered.
If you add more than is available, you are warned but not stopped, because quotes and special orders for stock you do not have yet are normal. What the warning says depends on your shop's Allow Negative Inventory setting: whether posting will take stock negative, or whether the invoice cannot be posted until more stock arrives.
If the invoice is open on a computer at the same time, the person there sees a note that you added to it, and their save keeps your item. See When someone else changes an invoice you are editing.
**Other stores**
Inventory Lookup shows this store's stock only. Showing what your other locations have is planned.
