The Settings > Payments page covers two separate things: whether Manifold Pay is connected, and whether you also run cards on another processor. A shop can have both.

Manifold Pay (top of the page)

Manifold Pay is Manifold's integrated card processing: a countertop terminal that Manifold pushes charges to straight from the invoice screen. The status block at the top reads Connected, Not connected, or Needs reconnect, with a Connect Manifold Pay or Manage Manifold Pay button that jumps to the connection section at the bottom of the page. Whenever it is connected, Manifold Pay appears as a payment method on every invoice with a balance due. There is nothing to select to turn it on; connecting is enough. Other card processors

This section asks one question: Do you run cards on any processor other than Manifold Pay?

  • Yes. Pick this if you run cards on your own terminal or on your processor's website (Square, Clover, Stripe, PayPal, a bank terminal, Authorize.net, anything that is not Manifold Pay). Those payments are recorded on the invoice as External Card: you run the card there, then enter the approved amount and reference number in Manifold. Choosing Yes opens "Your other processor", where you pick the processor from the list (or Other and type its name), tick "I run cards on a physical terminal in the shop" if you do, and tick "My processor sends customers a Pay Now link separately" if it does. The processor name is stamped on every External Card payment so reports can match it to that processor's settlement statement.
  • No. Pick this if Manifold Pay is your only card processor, or you take no cards at all. External Card is not offered on invoices. With Manifold Pay connected, it is the only card option; without it, invoices offer no card payment method at all, so choose Yes if you take cards anywhere.

Until you save an answer the page shows "Not answered yet", and External Card stays available on invoices so nobody is stuck without a card option.

Click Save Settings. You can change the answer at any time; payments already recorded keep the processor they were recorded against. This page is the "Tell us how you take card payments" step on the setup checklist; mark that step done once you have saved.

Posting behavior

Also on this page: "Post invoices automatically when paid in full" decides whether the "Post invoice now" box starts checked at ring-out. See "Collecting Payment Without Posting the Invoice".

Authorize.net

Further down, the Authorize.net section reads Connected or Not connected. Connecting your own Authorize.net account adds Authorize.net as a payment method on invoices, so cards can be charged from the invoice screen instead of entered by hand. See "Connecting your Authorize.net account".

Manifold Pay connection

The last section is where you enter the terminal credentials, test the terminal, and set up texted receipts and pay by link. See "Manifold Pay: connecting your card terminal".
