Store credit is a balance you hold for a customer to spend on future purchases. It is tracked per customer, shown on their page, and can never be spent below zero.
How a customer earns it
- Overpayment: when you receive more than a customer owes on account, the extra becomes store credit automatically.
- Manual adjustment: owners and managers can add or remove credit by hand.
Adding or adjusting credit
On the customer's page, find the Store Credit card and click Adjust (owners and managers only). Choose Add or Remove, enter the amount, and give a reason. Every change is recorded in the customer's store credit history.
Spending it
Store Credit is a payment method. Choose it when taking a payment and it draws down the customer's balance. You cannot charge more store credit than the customer has.
Seeing the balance
The Store Credit card on the customer's page shows the current balance and a running list of every credit issued and spent.
