A job description is one short line on an invoice that says what the job is, such as "Remote start install" or "Tint: front two windows". It shows on that job in the Scheduling Week view, so you can plan the week without opening each appointment.
Where to add or change it
- On the invoice form: the Job Description field, just above Notes Shown on Invoice. Fill it in when you create the invoice, or later when you edit it.
- When you book the job: the confirmation card that appears when you drag an invoice onto the calendar, or use its Schedule button, has a Job field already filled in from the invoice. Type or change it there and the invoice is updated.
- On the booking form, when you book an installation from an invoice or work order, and on an appointment's Edit screen: the Job Description field.
Where it shows
- The Scheduling Week view: a third line on the job, under the time and vehicle. A long description is cut short; hover over the job to read all of it.
- The invoice's page: the Job line in the details card at the top.
- The appointment's page: the Job line under Linked Records.
Good to know
- There is one description per invoice. Change it in any of these places and it changes everywhere.
- It is for your staff only. It never prints on the invoice and is never sent to the customer. Use Notes Shown on Invoice for anything the customer should read.
- It can be up to 120 characters, but a few words reads best on the Week view.
- An invoice with several work orders booked on different days shows the same description on each of them.
- A posted invoice can no longer be edited, but you can still change its job description from the appointment's Edit screen. Doing so never changes prices or totals.
- Consultations have no invoice, so they have no job description. Neither does a work order created without an invoice.
