The Clock-Out Reminder is a push notification that nudges a technician if they have been clocked into a work order longer than the configured threshold (default 12 hours). It catches techs who walked away without clocking out so your time tracking and labor cost numbers stay accurate.

Go to Settings > Work Orders and find the Time Tracking section.

The setting: Forgot-to-clock-out reminder (hours). Enter the number of hours a technician can stay clocked into a single work order before the system pings them. Default is 12. Set to 0 to disable reminders shop-wide.

How the reminder works

  • A background check runs every hour at :15 past the hour
  • It looks for any technician whose current work-order clock-in is older than your threshold and hasn't been reminded yet
  • The tech gets a single push notification on the 1sixty8 Manifold mobile app titled "Still clocked in?" with the message "You've been on [WO-XXXX] for Xh. Tap to clock out."
  • Tapping the notification opens that work order on the mobile bay screen where they can clock out
  • One reminder per clock-in session - the system will not nag repeatedly if the tech ignores it

Where techs clock in

On the mobile app, every page has a clock strip at the bottom of the screen.

  • When off the clock, the strip is red and shows a green "Clock in" button. On a mobile bay work-order page (/m/bay/wo/[ID]), that button clocks them into that specific work order directly. On any other mobile page, it opens the bay hub (/m/bay) so they can pick a work order.
  • When clocked in, the strip turns green and shows the work order number, vehicle, elapsed time, and a red "Clock out" button.

Why this matters

  • Labor reports (Revenue by Technician, Technician Efficiency, Work Order Summary) read from clock-in/clock-out timestamps. A forgotten clock-out makes a 30-minute job look like a 14-hour job and tanks the rep's efficiency numbers
  • Payroll can pay for hours that weren't actually worked

If you have a tech who consistently forgets to clock out, lower the threshold to 4 or 6 hours so they get reminded mid-shift. Once they get in the habit, raise it back to 12.
