Work Order Settings control how the bay handles intake and check-out, both on desktop and on the mobile bay UI.

Go to Settings > Work Orders.

Mobile Bay Mode

  • Basic: vehicle in / vehicle out + time tracking. Lifecycle is just Check-In then Check-Out.
  • Advanced: full 4-status lifecycle (Check-In, In Progress, QC, Closed) with checklists.

Pick Basic if you want minimum friction; pick Advanced if you want quality-control gates and more detailed tracking.

Both modes also allow a work order to be cancelled, for a job that is called off before it is finished. That is a permission ("Cancel work orders"), not a setting on this page. See How to Cancel a Work Order.

Work Order Creation

  • Allow work orders without a labor line. By default, the "Create Work Order" button on an invoice only appears when the invoice has at least one labor line item. Turn this on to let staff create a work order from any invoice, such as a parts drop-off or a diagnostic check-in where labor is added later. Off by default.

Time Tracking

  • Enable labor time tracking on work orders so techs can clock in and out.
  • Auto-clock on status changes (mobile bay UI) automatically starts and stops the clock when status changes. Reduces missed clocks.

Time data flows into the Technician Efficiency report and individual work order summaries.

Other settings on this page cover Photo Captions (require a caption when uploading a photo), Customer Signatures (at Check-In and/or Check-Out), Vehicle Condition Report (require completion at Check-In), Independent QC (force QC to be performed by a different user than the technician), and Edit Policy (whether closed-stage edits need manager approval).
