You can edit your own chat messages for up to 15 minutes after sending them. After that, the message is locked and cannot be changed.

To edit a message

  1. Open the conversation in the chat panel.
  2. Hover over your message (or tap it on mobile) until the small action row appears in the top-right of the message bubble.
  3. Click the pencil icon (✎). The message body turns into an editable textarea with your original text already filled in.
  4. Make your changes. Press Enter to save, or click "Save". Press Esc or click "Cancel" to abandon the edit.

Once saved, the message rerenders in the thread with the new text and an "(edited)" tag next to the timestamp so the team can see the message was changed.

Two things to know

  • The pencil icon only appears on your own messages, and only within the 15-minute window. Older messages do not show it at all.
  • Saving an empty edit or saving the exact same text both behave as cancel, so the message stays unchanged.
