The job timer reminder is a push notification that nudges a technician whose job timer on a work order has been running longer than the threshold you set (default 12 hours). It catches techs who walked away without stopping the timer, so your labor numbers stay accurate.
This is about the job timer on work orders (Start Job / Stop Job). The shift time clock in Team Hub has its own reminders and cutoff; see How to Set Up the Time Clock.
Go to Settings > Work Orders and find the Time Tracking section. The job timer only runs when "Enable the job timer on work orders" is ticked there; it is off until you turn it on.
The setting reads "Remind a technician whose job timer is still running after [12] hours". Enter how many hours a job timer can run on a single work order before the technician is reminded. Default is 12. Set it to 0 to turn the reminder off shop-wide.
How the reminder works
- A background check runs every hour at 15 past the hour.
- It looks for any job timer that has run longer than your threshold and hasn't been reminded yet.
- The technician gets one push notification on the 1sixty8 Manifold app titled "Job timer still running?" with the message "Your timer on [WO-XXXX] has run Xh. Tap to stop it."
- Tapping the notification opens that work order on the mobile bay screen, where they can stop the timer.
- One reminder per timer. The system will not nag repeatedly if the tech ignores it.
Where techs start and stop the job timer
On the mobile app, the job timer strip sits at the bottom of the Check-In/Out (work order) screens. It does not appear on other parts of the app, such as the Inbox or Team Chat.
- With no timer running, the strip is red, says "No job running" and shows a green "Start job" button. On a work order's page, that button starts the timer on that work order. Elsewhere in Check-In/Out, it opens the bay hub so they can pick a work order.
- With a timer running, the strip turns green and shows the work order number, vehicle, elapsed time and a red "Stop job" button.
On a computer, the buttons are Start Job and Stop Job in the work order's Job Timer section.
If your shop uses the shift time clock, clocking out for the day or going on a break also stops or pauses the job timer, which keeps most timers from running overnight.
Why this matters
- Labor reports (Technician Efficiency and Work Order Summary) read from job timer start and stop times. A forgotten timer makes a 30-minute job look like a 14-hour job and sinks the tech's efficiency numbers.
If a tech consistently forgets to stop the timer, lower the threshold to 4 or 6 hours so they get reminded mid-shift. Once they're in the habit, raise it back to 12.
