A quick visit holds time in a bay for a short stop-in, like a DSP retune, checking out a rattle, or basic maintenance. It needs no invoice and no work order.
Booking one
On the Scheduling calendar's Day view, drag down an empty bay from the start time to the end time and let go. On a tablet or phone, tap the empty slot instead; that blocks your shop's default length, and you can change the times on the card. A card opens with three choices: Quick Visit, Installation and Consultation.
Pick Quick Visit, then either search for the customer or type just a name and phone. If the customer has vehicles on file, pick one. Under "What for", say what the visit is. Click Save Quick Visit. It appears in the bay straight away; you never leave the calendar. A quick visit can also be just a note with no customer, for example "Hold for Dave's retune".
Installation and Consultation on the same card open the full booking form with the bay, start and end filled in.
Clicking Book on an opening in Find a time opens the same card on that day.
On the calendar
A quick visit shows on the All and Installations tabs. It is striped, labelled QUICK VISIT, and shows its note. It takes the same status colors as any appointment and blocks its bay the same way, so nothing else can be booked over it. Your other stores see it only as "Quick Visit", never the customer or the note.
If the customer is on the visit, they get your shop's usual appointment reminder texts.
When it turns into a real job
Open the quick visit and click Make Work Order. New Work Order opens with the customer, vehicle, bay and note filled in. Pick the tech and save. The quick visit becomes that work order's installation, in the same bay and time slot.
Quick visits don't appear on the Job Board or in reports until they become a work order.
